Uncommonly Good: Stories of Food, Life and the Birth of Good Commons

Our Mission
GOOD COMMONS is dedicated to providing an essential resource: space.
- a space to create
- a space to empower the body and soul
- a space to heal and be fed
Our retreat staff works to maintain an open, accepting and creative ‘home away from home.’ We are here to assist our guests in achieving the goals of their stay. Interested in a private chef? We provide high quality nutritious meals with great effort towards satisfying as many dietary requests as possible.
At Good Commons, we believe in consistently striving to be more conscious citizens. We value art. We value healing. We respect the personal and creative process. We value change and all the glories and struggles that accompany change. We value the beauty of slowing down and going easy on the self.
Good Commons is committed to protecting the environment, the health and safety of our employees, and the community in which we conduct our business. We are a community solar powered facility (our array is in Townsend, VT). Our primary heat source is solar power as well. We upgraded all of our weatherization in January of 2015. It is our policy to continue to seek improvements by conserving energy, water, and other natural resources; reducing waste generation; recycling and purchasing recycled products; and reducing our use of toxic materials. We are committed to pollution prevention, continual improvement and meeting or exceeding all environmental regulatory requirements.
Preference shall be given to suppliers whose products who are local and have environmentally friendly attributes that maximize post consumer recycled content, minimize toxicity and packaging, or have any other environmentally preferable attributes, with minimal sacrifice to price, quality and delivery requirements.
