YOGA MOVEMENT - OPENING BODY, MIND, AND HEART
Whether you are seeking a stronger, more flexible body, a more focused and calm mind, or a more patient and compassionate heart - the ancient practice of yoga can help. Classes are very user friendly, with supports and modifications given as needed. Asana (yoga postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques), and Savasana (deep relaxation) are included, along with brief meditations. We will use the breath as our primary guide, as we explore traditional yoga postures, and other playful ways of freeing the body and mind! The energy meridians from TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) will be incorporated, along with some partner work and suggestions for home practice.
Karen has been involved with yoga for over 20 years, and teaching for 12. She is a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, and a Thai-Shiatsu bodyworker. Karen's teaching draws from Iyengar, Kripalu and Kundalini styles of yoga, as well as the practices of Authentic Movement, Feldenkrais,
and Bellydance. She also loves the wisdom of the natural world, and enjoys weaving imagery appropriate to the season into her teaching. Karen enjoys supporting people in recovering the spaciousness we all have in our bodies and minds as children. Regardless of why you think yoga is good for you, there is always something more awaiting your discovery.
"We have it in us to be splendid." Maya Angelou

Testimonials. . . . . . . .
I feel HAPPY after yoga. . . I like the way I feel about myself, my posture, head space, etc. I feel like I am doing something for myself- and something good! I like the way I have more patience (especially with the kids) after class. I just feel calm and clear. Thanks Karen!

Yoga is the only nontraditional physical intervention that has relieved the pain, that I carry in my neck and shoulder blades. Yoga teaches me how to slow down and helps me to focus on being in the present. I love how the practice of yoga combines body and spirit. Yoga helps me, again and again, to honor and value my body, and to appreciate all the wonderful things it can do. Karen's classes are always wonderfully creative.

Yoga class is both refreshing and relaxing. I have a tendency to be somewhat hyperactive, and yoga is very calming. Karen is one of the best instructors I have had, and I've had quite a few in my 12 years of practicing!
